PLAYSTATION: IT HAPPENS ON PS5 - UNEXPECTED CATCH - 1920

SEA MONSTER

I was over the moon to collaborate on a commercial for PlayStation, especially as it was to work on a horrific sea monster! I had the task of concept sculpting, modelling and texturing. Seeing as the creature is dead, we worked on this asset without a rigger and I supplied the creature sim artist with multiple poses to blend between, from being caught in the net to landing on the boat and multiple variations of the sliced open belly.

As well as multiple models of the creature, The textures I provided for lookdev included col, norm, spec, disp and multiple masks variations for better control for subsurface scattering for very close up shots.

When working on this creatures, PlayStation were adamant that this creature did not resemble any other creature and had to look like something very different without any reference to famous or recognisable creatures, and I'm very happy to have provided such a unique creature asset.

On the left you can see that 1920 made a fantastic breakdown of this project which show cases a great in-depth process of the work that went into making this creature come to life!

Not only did this project entail a great commercial but also a billboard advertisement. As well as multiple model poses, I also made more unique models that had distorted proportions due to the perspective angle that worked for this billboard still advertisement below.
